Everybody wins at The Hope Chest, a popular resale store located at 36 N. Lincoln Ave. in Aurora (630 723-3436). Treasure hunting shoppers might find almost-new furniture or an interesting antique for just a few dollars. Toys and books are plentiful, as is kitchenware. Another section is devoted to appliances and a truck is available to deliver.
Clothing is attractively displayed and clearly marked with sizes. The shop is clean and organized and the staff is especially helpful, always willing to carry purchased items to cars. On the first Friday of the month, the store offers give-aways and special discounts and activities.
Proceeds support the ministries of Wayside Cross in Aurora, where volunteers and mentors teach service and retail skills to help those in recovery from drugs and/or homelessness gain job training and employment.
Another beneficiary of The Hope Chest’s resale efforts is the environment, which benefits from recycling used or unwanted items, keeping them out of landfills.
